On February 16, 2025, in Gondola District, Manica Province, authorities intercepted a group of traffickers on a public road around 7:00 p.m. The suspects were found in possession of a live pangolin, which was being transported in a white vehicle and intended to be sold at an exorbitant price.

Notably, among the group was a teacher who, along with the others, was involved in the illegal hunting and sale of the pangolin. This operation resulted in the arrest of four traffickers, who are now in custody in Gondola under the charges related to wildlife trafficking.

This incident highlights the urgent need to combat the illegal wildlife trade, which threatens endangered species and disrupts delicate ecosystems. Authorities continue to investigate the case to determine the full extent of the illicit activities and to ensure that all involved are held accountable.
